American Petroleum Institute (API) The main US trade association for the oil and gas industry, representing about 400 corporations involved in the production, refinement, distribution and other aspects of the industry.

Barnett Shale Energy Council (BSEEC) A Texas community resource that provides information to the public about natural gas production and pipelines in the Barnett Shale region.

Danielle Dawn Smalley Foundation A national foundation whose mission is to increase safety and awareness for those who live, work and play near pipelines by empowering the general public, training first responders and partnering with the oil and gas industry.

Interstate Natural Gas Association of American (INGAA) A trade organization that advocates regulatory and legislative positions of importance to the natural gas pipeline industry in North America.

National Pipeline Mapping System The National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS) is a geographic information system (GIS) managed by the US Department of Transportation’s Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. NPMS provides the general public information and maps of transmission pipelines.

Pipeline Association for Public Awareness (PAPA) A national industry organization comprised of pipeline operator companies and state organizations that provide pipeline safety and emergency preparedness information to the general public, public officials, emergency responders and excavators.

Ready.gov Ready.gov is a national public service campaign designed to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks.

Southern Gas Association (SGA) A leading natural gas industry association for 100 years, SGA’s broad-based membership of more than 150 distribution, transmission and gas supply marketing companies uses SGA as a collaborative forum to share knowledge and best practices, a source of relevant training and program development, and a cost-effective vehicle for the increased use of natural gas. SGA administers the Texas Pipeline Awareness Alliance program.

US Department of Transportation Pipeline & Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA) Federal government regulatory agency created to protect people and the environment from the risks inherent in the transportation of hazardous materials by pipeline and other modes of transportation.
